Kaetz, Auburn University<\/strong><br>Westover is located in north-central <a href=\"http:\/\/encyclopediaofalabama.org\/article\/h-1206\">Shelby County<\/a> in the central part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/encyclopediaofalabama.org\/article\/h-1598\">state<\/a>. It has a mayor\/city council form of government. <em>History<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/encyclopediaofalabama.org\/article\/m-9287\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/encyclopediaofalabama.org\/images\/m-9287.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Old Rock School<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally called either Weldon or Cobb, Westover was established in 1901 as a mail and passenger stop on the Atlanta, <a href=\"http:\/\/encyclopediaofalabama.org\/article\/h-1421\">Birmingham<\/a> and Atlantic <a href=\"http:\/\/encyclopediaofalabama.org\/article\/h-2390\">Railroad<\/a>. It derives its name from the railroad.
